Set in a seemingly abandoned warehouse young film makers find their script comes to life with terrifying results...
All this started with "two guys tied to a chair"...
The Peryton was created from script to final edit in two days as part of the 48 hour film project. As with all 48 hour films we randomly chose a genre from a hat (we got "horror") and were assigned three elements which had to be the in the script.
For all 2005 Philadelphia movies these were:
Character:
D. Ayers, a politcal activist
Line of Dialogue: "I've never seen one
of those"
Prop:
Umbrella
The team that created "The Peryton" was assembled by Christine Risley and Wayne Hamilton. Armed with enthusiasm, countless ideas, beer, and a central base of operations everyone gathered together 7 PM Friday April 8th for brain storming before the writers were sent off and production planned the grueling schedule. A working script was created by midnight and all filming was done onsite in a warehouse in Kensington section of Phialdelphia Saturday with teams running tapes back and forth so Editng and Music could start while the location crew was still filming. Everything was assembled and the final cut was completed and delivered within minutes of the 48 hour deadline on Sunday.
We knew we had something we were proud of and the Film was awarded "Best Picture" and "Audience Favorite" at it's screening April 12 with the other 48 Hour films from this year. The film is going on to compete in the international festival (being held in San Jose, Ca. this year).
Since it's creation "The Peryton" has taken on a life of it's own and
there are a number of screenings as well as a future DVD release being
planned.
